As part of a reconstruction programme, the robust underframes of the wagons were brought to a uniform length and the worn wooden car bodies were replaced by a welded new construction. In a pre-series, wagons with 4 doors were initially built, but in series production, only 2 doors were used. Later, luggage and postal wagons were also built in addition to the passenger coaches. In total, approximately 3,000 wagons were reconstructed or built.
